Olá Lisboa – For the love of Lisbon
Carlos Sequeira, owner of Olá Lisboa, was born in the city on the Tagus River that gives the restaurant its name. Although he came to Germany at the age of four and grew up here in the Portuguese Quarter, his love for his birthplace remained. Every three or four months, the big Benfica Lisbon fan gets homesick, as rooted as he is in Hamburg.
Olá Lisboa is a real matter of the heart for Carlos Sequeira, and not just because of his love for Lisbon: when he helped his father deliver Portuguese food in Hamburg, the “Lisboa” at Ditmar-Koel-Straße 18 was his favorite place.
And now, 30 years later, the same place is called “Olá Lisboa” – hello Lisbon!
